What are the Montjuïc Cable Car ticket prices?
Montjuïc Cable Car return tickets can be bought online or at the ticket booth. Round-trip Montjuïc Cable Car ticket prices are as follows:
- Adults: €15
- Children (4-12): €11
- Children under 4: Free
Single tickets are also available, but these tickets cannot be bought online and must be bought at the onsite ticket booth. Single Montjuïc Cable Car ticket prices are as follows:
- Adults: €10
- Children (4-12): €8
- Children under 4: Free
Entrance to Montjuïc Castle is not included in the price of a Montjuïc Cable Car ticket. It should also be noted that Montjuïc Castle can also be accessed on foot, by bicycle or by bus. Montjuïc Castle ticket prices are as follows:
- Adults: €9
- Children (8-12): €6
- Children under 8: Free
If you book your Montjuïc Castle tickets in advance, you can skip the line at the entrance.
Who can get a discount?
While the Montjuïc Cable Car does not offer any discounts except for large groups, entrance to Montjuïc Castle is reduced for local unemployed people and those holding certain cards.
The reduced rate is €6 per person. Local teachers and journalists are also able to enter the castle for free.
Are there free admission days?
Yes. Visiting Montjuïc Castle is free on the first Sunday of every month, and from 3 PM on every Sunday of the year. Keep in mind that Sundays can get quite crowded, but this is a great option if you are traveling on a budget.
Should you book in advance?
When you book your round-trip Montjuïc Cable Car tickets in advance, you’ll enjoy a small discount. Furthermore, all tickets booked online remain valid for 90 days from the purchase date— providing you with a flexible itinerary.

Self-guided audio tours
If you are happy to explore the Montjuïc area on your own or alongside your travel companions, a self-guided audio tour may be an excellent option for you. Once you have paid for the tour, you’ll receive an SMS with a link to download the app.

In-house guided tours
Montjuïc Castle offers an in-house guided tour, which comprehensively introduces the castle. Tours take place in English on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays at 1 PM. See the Castle's best sights and learn more about the castle’s rich history, which dates back to 1640.
Groups of 10 or more people should reserve their Montjuïc Castle tour in advance. These tours cater to your group’s specific interests and you’ll be accompanied by a cultural mediator to make for a more personalized experience.
Guided tours of the castle are not inclusive of Montjuïc Cable Car tickets, and these need to be purchased separately should you wish to reach the castle via cable car.

How to get there?
The Montjuïc Cable Car ticket office is located in Parc de Montjuïc, which is just several kilometers from Barcelona’s city center. The park is easily accessed by metro or bus, with various stations being just a few minutes' walk away from the ticket office.
You don’t have to use the cable car to get to Montjuïc Castle as the castle can be reached by foot, by bus, by bicycle or by taxi.
When are the cable cars open?
Montjuïc Cable Car’s opening times differ from season to season.
Between November and February (Spain’s winter), the cable car is open from 10 AM to 6 PM. During the summer months of June, July, August and September, the cable car runs from 10 AM to 7 PM.
The cable car runs from 10 AM to 6:30 PM during the ‘shoulder’ months of March, April, May and October.
Montjuïc Castle has similar opening times to the cable car, except it is closed on 25 December and 1 January.
When is the best time of day to visit the Montjuïc Cable Car?
The Montjuïc Cable Car can get quite busy during peak season, so you may want to plan your excursion during the week if you are wanting to beat the crowds. The cable car is also the least busy in the morning when it opens at 10 AM.
If waiting in line doesn’t bother you too much, you may want to visit Montjuïc at sunset as you’ll experience incredible sunset views of Barcelona.
